Hi Tomek, thanks for sharing your story. I’m interested in your circumstances since they are reflective of lack of institutional support for technology, which I’m sure many of your classmates will relate to. I’m impressed with your motivation to develop an online course, and hope that this course gives us the skills to move forward on that type of enterprise. I myself hope to digitize a workshop I am currently developing for physicians, but I think it will require a bit of institutional backing ($$$!) to get moving forward. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply Erin. My college is a National Institute of Technology and they pride themselves on fostering the future engineers of Japan, but when they still are not able to use PowerPoint to make presentations or even log in to the textbooks' online component (let alone remember their ID or passwords) it demands the question - which level of technological literacy is really needed and in what order of priority? My experience in the MET so far makes me want to develop my own BlackBoard course even, especially since there are talks starting recently in Japan to push for BlackBoard-based education so that we can also "teach" at other Colleges in the Institutes of Technology across Japan (there's 50+ scattered around the country). The backing is there, but there is nobody who knows how it works or even where to start, so hopefully this course and the MET overall will help me be the kickstarter!
