I find it interesting that this overview of Wearable Tech includes the use of Virtual Reality headsets. I hadn’t considered VR or AR to be included with Wearable Tech, so this brings forward the question of “What exactly defines Wearable Technology?”. Could a clip-on iPod be considered wearable technology? Must the technology possess connectivity of some kind (Bluetooth/Wifi)? Google Glasses (now discontinued) is an Augmented Reality device, but could be considered wearable tech… Does strapping an iPhone to an armband make your iPhone Wearable Tech? I have seen LED’s and other tech being incorporated into textiles as well…

I’m curious about this technology but I’m not sure where one would ‘draw the lines’ between Wearable Technology and other technology.

I have attempted to post this several times (with no success) so this Review post wasn't completed when it finally did appear! I wanted to add my thoughts on how useful and valuable to the the broader community of educators like myself might find in this technology. First, I do think there may be value in the technology, but I think more importantly it needs to be more well-defined (as I noted in my original post). Second, I think the technology is so new that it may take several iterations of devices like Apple Watch to see how it could be used effectively in a classroom. As a side-note, I did find a first use for one of my student's Apple Watches in class yesterday: They were creating stop-motion movies for a science project, and an app called "Stop Motion Studio" has an Apple Watch app that allows it to be used as a shutter button, so that the camera (their iPhone) won't be moved between shots. This is a bit 'gimmicky', to be sure, but perhaps there could be broader and more useful applications in the future. Only time will tell...
