The BrainPOP concept is a great one – us…

The BrainPOP concept is a great one – using animation and likable characters to make information accessible to kids. The founder, Dr. Kadar, appears to have parlayed his career as a physician into a successful technology concept. His company has also used their knowledge of education and grant funding to provide an avenue for educator to access the pay services of his company. The funding page on the site provides ideas for educators to apply for grants, or for donors to provide funding to access services – a very savvy way to increase his subscriber base. I was a bit disappointed in his asthma video in “free stuff”. The introduction was very kid friendly, but it quickly moved to a university level of language when the condition was described. Although his advisor list does include a reading advisor, the group could do a better job of targeting the reading level of their materials.
